こんにちは、Rayです。私はドイツで音楽の勉強をしている大学院生で、オーボエという楽器を専攻しています。

新型コロナウイルスの影響で私は日本に半年留まっていたのですが、今回はその間の状況をつづります。

日本に帰るか、帰らないか？

私は長期留学を開始した2019年9月の時点で、日本での演奏会に参加するため2020年2月末から約1か月間の一時帰国を予定していました。

ドイツの大学が春休みに入った2月初めの頃は、ヨーロッパでの新型コロナウイルス患者数はあまり多くなく、アジアで流行っている病気だという認識でした。

そのような状況の中、感染者数が増えつつある日本に一時帰国するかしないかは難しい判断でした。留学生の中には一時帰国をあきらめてドイツに留まった人もいましたが、私はドイツへ再入国ができないかもしれないというリスクを覚悟して日本での予定を優先することにしました。

2月末の国際線運行状況は中国発着便が欠航するのみで、日本～ドイツ間は通常通りでした。乗り継ぎしたフィンランドの空港では、様々な国の人に混じって日本人旅行客もちらほら見かけました。

日本到着時も特に特別なことはなく、検査なしで帰宅することができました。

日本滞在中

私が日本に帰国して数日後、日本で一回目の自粛要請が出され、教育機関の休校、演奏会の中止という状況になりました。そして私が出演を予定していたコンサートもすべて中止になりました（トホホ）

3月にはヨーロッパでの感染拡大と渡航制限のため飛行機の欠航が相次ぎました。私が予約していた4月1日に日本を出発する飛行機も欠航になり、当面の交通手段がなくなってしまいました。

しばらく日本で状況をみていましたが、5月はじめに、ドイツの大学の授業は夏休み前までオンラインのみの開講、と決まったので、私は夏まで日本にいることにしました。

私の所属するオーボエクラスは、教授の素早い判断でオンラインレッスンを早いうちから始めることができました。

4月はじめから6月下旬までZoomやSkypeを使ったオンラインレッスンが続きました。ドイツと日本には7時間（ドイツサマータイムの場合）の時差があり、時間調整には少し苦労しましたが、ハイテクのおかげで遠く離れた日本から大学の授業に参加することができました。

専攻の授業は教授とアシスタントの先生それぞれのレッスンが週一度ずつ、不定期でオーボエの吹き口（リード）制作のレッスンもありました。毎月の終わりにオーボエクラスの生徒約10人と先生がパソコン越しに曲を披露するクラス内コンサート、そして一度、各自が自宅で撮影したビデオをFacebookで公開するオンライン演奏会も開催しました。

生演奏を勉強する私たちにとってオンラインレッスンには限度がありましたが、先生やクラスメイトとの定期的なコンタクトは家で個人練習するしかなかった時期のモチベーション維持に役立ちました。

またこの半年間、私は音楽理論のクラスとドイツ語コースを受講しました。毎回長時間パソコンの画面を見続けるのは大変でしたが、生徒間で活発な議論ができました。また日本にいながらドイツ語を使う機会があったのはとてもありがたいことでした。

予定変更なしに7月から9月末まで大学は夏休みになりました。ドイツ語の対面授業が8月に開講されることになったので、それに合わせて私はドイツに戻ることにしました。

ドイツへ旅立つとき

ドイツは現在、日本をはじめ各国の旅行客の入国を制限していますが、私はドイツの学生ビザ（長期滞在ビザ）を持っているため、ドイツに入国することができました。そしてこの時点でドイツ保健省の指定するリスク地域に日本は含まれていなかったので、私は入国後の自主隔離なしで通常の活動することができました。

今回私は成田空港から香港経由で、ドイツ・フランクフルト空港に入国しました。

初めに成田空港のチェックインカウンターで「入国する国の長期滞在ビザなど十分な渡航書類があるか」を厳重に確認されました。そして到着先で入国拒否・強制送還される可能性が低いだろうと判断されて初めて搭乗券を発行してもらいました。

国際線を利用する人は少なく、私の乗った便は乗客が全部で30~40人しかいませんでした。

空港はどこもガラガラです。

機内の自分の席に着く前に周辺を消毒している人がたくさんいたのが印象的でした。当然空港内・機内は常にマスク着用義務です。

しかし機内サービスは通常通りで、機内食のメニューを選ぶこともできました。

飛行機を乗り継ぐ場合、乗り継ぎ時間によってはトランジット国に入国して短時間観光することができます。しかし現在の香港では防疫対策のためそれは認められておらず、私は空港内でドイツ行きの便を待ちました。（そして空港利用者が少ないので空港内のショップ・レストランはほとんど閉まっていました。せっかく時間があったのに退屈でした　泣）

ドイツに到着して、私が入国審査の時に提示した書類はパスポートと学生ビザだけでした。入国審査官には「私はドイツの大学に在籍しています。大学での勉強は自分の国では完全な形で続けられないのでドイツにいる必要があります。」などといった主張を（恐れずに、かつ丁寧に）する必要がありました。

前述のとおり日本から入国した人は自主隔離義務がなかったので、翌日からドイツ語の授業に参加することができました。

ドイツに戻ってから（8月以降）

秋冬学期は10月からオンラインと対面とを組み合わせた授業が開催されます。それに先立って、オーボエクラスは9月中旬から個人レッスンが始まっています。半年ぶりに対面での（そして時差のない）授業を受けられた喜びは大きいものでした。先生の音を直接聴けることがこんなに貴重なことなんだ、と半年間の空白を経て実感しました。

そして半期分の学業が不完全、という理由で大学在籍期間を半年延ばすことができました。ドイツの大学の入学時期、在籍期間は日本と比べると柔軟なのでこのような対応が可能なのだと思います。

これからドイツに行こうとしている方へ

先の見えない毎日のため状況が突然変わったりしますが、一例として私が経験したことをシェアしてみました。

特に出入国制限によって留学を開始できない人も多いかと思います。入国制限解除によって予定の見通しが立つことを願います。

ドイツ入国時に提示を求められたのはパスポートとビザでしたが、私は以下の証明書も念のため手元に準備していました。

いつルールが変わってもおかしくないので常に信頼できるソースを見る、わからないことは問い合わせる、などして自分で最新の情報を集めるのが一番大切だと思います。

例えば在日ドイツ大使館、在ドイツ日本領事館、そしてドイツの保健機関（ロベルトコッホ研究所 Robert Koch Institut）や入国を担当するドイツ警察のサイトなどがあります。私は実際に在ドイツ日本領事館にメールで問い合わせましたが、すぐに的確な回答を受け取ることができて助かりました）

複雑で難しいとは思いますが、ネットを駆使してできる準備を進めてください。
