ドイツで見かけた桜並木。キレイな濃いピンクです。

こんにちは、Rayです。私はドイツで音楽の勉強をしている大学院生で、オーボエという楽器を専攻しています。

ドイツでは5月になっても寒い日が続いていましたが一転、原稿作成中の本日は真夏日でした。春の気温差が激しい話は聞いていましたが、経験するのは初めてのことです。昨日までダウンコートだった人々の服装が、今日はノースリーブにサングラスです。やっと桜の見ごろを迎えたというのに、季節の変化があっという間でびっくりしてしまいました。明日からはまた寒くなるようなので、寒暖差で体調を崩すことのないように気を付けます。

今回から、エコ先進国ドイツで発見した日常生活のエコを、2回に分けてご紹介します。

包装が少ない

スーパーの野菜コーナーにあった、ばら売り野菜を入れる袋です。ジャガイモを入れました。

ドイツに来て驚いたことは、商品の包装のシンプルさです。例えば、多くのお菓子が個包装ではなく大容量パックで売られていること、パン屋さんで買う砂糖コーティングで手がべとべとになるようなパンも薄い紙袋に入れて渡されることなど、日本と比較して非常にシンプルに包装されています。

そして、リサイクルできるよう、紙の包装が使われていることが多いです。店や商品の宣伝でも「この製品は薄いプラスチックを使っていて、ゴミが少ないです。」などとうたう商品が多いことから、消費者の判断基準の一つに環境への配慮（特にプラスチックごみを減らすこと）があることがわかります。

エコバッグ

前回の記事「ドイツのスーパー」の時にエコバッグの普及について紹介しましたが、ここではドイツのドラッグストアチェーン店「DM」のエコバッグをご紹介します。

写真のエコバッグはDMのレジ下に置いてあり、2ユーロ(約260円）で購入できます。化学繊維ではなくオーガニックコットンが使用されているので地球に優しい上に、作りも丈夫です。このバッグの素晴らしい点は、交換システムが整っていることです。古くなってしまったら、店で新しいものと交換してもらえるそうなのです！店はその古いバッグをリサイクルし、客側も最初の2ユーロでずっと使えるバッグが手に入る、お互いにとって良い仕組みだなと思います。店頭にあるエコバッグは時々色が変わるので、いつか好みの色があったときに予備でもう一つ買おうと思っています。

乗り物

車が有名なドイツですが、エコな乗り物として自転車やキックスケーターが日本以上に普及しています。

自転車が走りやすそう

私は自転車を持っていないのでわかりませんが、この付近で自転車を見る数は日本の街中よりも多いような気がします。（付近に坂道が少ないことも関係しているかもしれませんが…）

特に今の様な暖かい日は、休日のアクティビティとしてサイクリングが人気です。郊外の自然豊かな場所まで自転車を走らせて、道中見つけた季節の食材や果物を採るという話をよく聞きます。最近は葉ニラという香草の季節で、摘んだものをペーストやオイル漬けにしたり、刻んでパスタなどに加えたりするのだそうです！

ちなみに、ドイツの鉄道には自転車を持ち込むことが可能で、駐輪するときに椅子を収納できる席や、自転車用の固定ベルトがあります！中長距離鉄道では自転車用の切符を追加で購入して電車に乗り込みます。

自転車で配達

また、ドイツの郵便配達の手段はバイクや車だけではなく、電動自転車も利用されています。日本の郵便は赤をイメージしますが、ドイツは黄色です。郵便ポストも黄色です。配達員さんはこの写真のように全身黄色で現れるので、とても目立って素敵です。

キックスケーターのシェアサービス

乗り捨てられたキックスケーター

キックスケーターといえば子供の頃を思い出す私ですが、留学してすぐの頃、スーツ姿のおじさまがキックスケーターに乗る姿を見た時にはびっくり仰天し、服装と乗り物のアンバランスさに笑ってしまったことがあります。

しかし最近知ったのが、キックスケーターをシェアするサービスの存在です。おそらくスーツ姿のおじさまが使っていたのもシェアサービスだったのかなと思います。

友人で使っている人がいたので聞いてみたところ、アプリをダウンロードしてアカウント登録するだけで使えて便利だそうです。アプリの地図で近くのキックスケーターを見つけ、スマホをキックスケーターのホルダーに置くと鍵の開錠と乗車申請ができます。目的地に着いたら周辺に停めておけばよく、料金は乗車時間で決まります。

数年前のドイツ旅行で楽しんだレンタサイクルは駐輪スペースに気を付けなければなりませんでしたが、小型のキックスケーターであれば乗車後に道に乗り捨ててもそんなに邪魔にはなりません。だから最近広まっているのかなと思います。

まとめ

エコ先進国と言われているドイツ、人々のエコに対する意識が高いと思います。エコへの取り組みとドイツの合理的なものを好む考え方とがうまくハマっているようにも感じます。ですが車社会のドイツ、毎日の通勤渋滞などまだ改善できそうな点はあると思います。今後どのように変わっていくのか注目しようと思います。

この記事を書いている間に、日本でも先月からキックスケーターのシェアサービスを開始したというニュースを見ました。これから日本でも普及していくのか、楽しみにしています。
